Ajmal dazzles for the last time as Faisalabad lost semi-final

RAWALPINDI: The Magician, Saeed Ajmal charmed the cricket field for one last time during the first semi-final of National T20 tournament as Faisalabad lost to Lahore Whites by ten runs.

In the last outing of Saeed Ajmal, he bowled exceptionally well to concede only 13 runs in four overs with one wicket to his name. However, he cannot make his moment memorable while batting as he got run-out without scoring.

Earlier, Saeed Ajmal had announced that the ongoing National T20 tournament will be his last and he will retire from all forms of cricket after that.

Faisalabad won the toss and elected to field first in the crucial contest. Lahore Whites had a solid start, as the seasoned opening pair of Kamran Akmal and Salman Butt contributed 69 runs together.

Akmal was the first man to fall after scoring 30 (22). Despite a firm launchpad, Lahore Whites’ batting failed as none of the batsmen other than the top three could score significantly. Butt scored 40 (23), while Umar Akmal struck 35 (35).

Lahore Whites managed to put142/7 on the board in their quota of 20 overs.

Faisalabad did not look even close to their best as they kept losing their wickets at regular intervals.

Sahibzada Farhan lost his wicket cheaply and Faisalabad was one down for just 9 runs. Gauhar Ali and Sohaib Maqsood tried to fight for their team, but lost their way after scoring 37 runs together as Gauhar lost his wicket for 15 (12).

Once Sohaib Maqsood fell after scoring 39 (31), none of their batsmen could show respectable resilience as they kept losing their wickets against a strong bowling attack of Lahore Whites.

Imran Khalid, from down the order, looked to put up some fight with his quickfire 24 (12), but it was not enough.

Eventually, Lahore Whites won the game by 10 as they restricted Faisalabad to 132.

Lahore Whites will take on the winner of the second semi-final between Lahore Blues and FATA on November 30.
