Islamabad United’s wicketkeeper-batsman Luke Ronchi described his fiery knock as ‘one of my good days’ as he annihilated Karachi Kings for Islamabad’s eight-wicket win in Dubai on Sunday which put them in the final of the Pakistan Super League.

Ronchi smashed 39-ball 94 not out with 12 boundaries and five sixes to help Islamabad United to overhaul Karachi’s modest-looking 155-run target with 45 balls to spare.

The win put Islamabad United in March 25th final in Karachi. Karachi Kings will have to wait who wins the Tuesday’s first eliminator in Lahore and take the winner in Wednesday’s second eliminator, also in Lahore.

Ronchi described the day as amazing.

“Today was an amazing day for us. It is a massive win for us to take us to the final. I have been feeling great. The guys are pretty excited in the dressing room,” said Ronchi.

“We thought it was quite a good total. A few dropped catches always helped and it was one of those days when the ball came on the bat and it was a good day, for sure.”

Asked did he regret not getting to a hundred,” Ronchi said: “No, we won the game so it all that mattered.”

Ronchi said he batted with a clear mind.

“That was just good batting. If I have a clear mind then everything comes good and it happened and in the few other games as well where I started well before in the league.

“I think their plans did not work out and they dropped a fair amount of catches and that certainly doesn’t help them. They did bowl a few slow balls which I missed but at the end, I was confident of what I was doing.”

Karachi Kings dropped as many as four catches, three of Ronchi.

Ronchi said he was going to Pakistan and had good memories of a tour there with Australia “A” in 2007.

“I toured Pakistan with the A team, 2007 may be. All the places were good, Lahore, Faisalabad and Sheikhpura. It was nice and clean but hot. I look forward to the tour that the final is sold out in three hours so it’s going to be massive and I hope we don’t play Karachi because then we will have that support. ”

Ronchi admitted he took the decision on feedback and information.

“With the information, we have been given and the time frame of different things. It’s a decision that you take after talking certain people. Each person has there own choice.

“I totally believe that’s the way it should be. But it’s going to be exciting for the PSL as well to have the players there and the majority of our team is going so that makes it more exciting to have the whole unit together. “
