The Pakistan cricket board has announced the squad for the World T20 and Asia Cup which are scheduled to take place straight after the Pakistan Super League this year.
Opener Ahmed Shehzad has been dropped from the squad because he has failed to perform on the previous few occasions for Pakistan. He has just 33 runs to his credit during the three T20 matches he has played in 2016 while his average in 2015 was just 22 and strike rate was also a mere 108.
Along with Shehzad Sohaib Maqsood, Mohammad Rizwan and Umar Gul have also failed to impress the selectors and hence will not feature in the T20 World Cup or the Asia Cup. Although Umar Gul was hoping he gets another chance because according to him it would be harsh to sideline him after such a short stint after comeback.
Mohammad Irfan has also been called back into the squad along with young talent Mohammad Nawaz and Rumman Raees.
Interestingly Khurram Manzoor who has never played a T20 match has also been slotted into the side for the these major assignments.
The Squad for the World T20 and Asia Cup is as follows:-
Shahid Afridi (Captain)
Sarfraz Ahmed (wk)
