PBF announces eight-member boxing team for Asian Games 2018


KARACHI: The secretary Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF), Colonel Nasir Ajaz on Friday announced eight members team for the boxing event in the 18th Asian Games, pencilled in from August 18 to September 2 in Palembang and Jakarta, Indonesia.

The team includes Mohibullah (49kg), Syed Mohammad Asif (52Kg), Naqeeb-ul-Lah (56Kg), Salman Baloch (64Kg), Gul Zaib (69Kg), Tanveer Ahmed (75Kg), Razia Bano (51Kg women category), Rukhsana Parveen (60Kg women category).

Nasir while talking to the presser said that all grapplers are prepared mentally as well as physically to give tough time over there and hopefully the things would turn in Pakistan’s favour.

“We are expecting some outstanding performance from them and personally I feel that these players will not disappoint us,” said Nasir.

He was quick to add that they are expecting a lot more from male boxers as they have the exposure of playing at International level.

“Our male pugilists are in good nick having strong techniques to propel Pakistan to achieve some top-notch results in the mega event,”

On the other hand, Secretary PBF wished the two female boxers– out of eight members boxing team, best of luck with a hope for good results from them too.

According to Nasir, PBF is bearing the expenses of Nasir Baloch and Coach Arshad Hussain.

“We added these two [Nasir Baloch and Arshad Hussain] on our behalf to our team as we felt their need,” said Nasir.
