Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan features Platinum category in PSL draft

Pakistan Super League (PSL) has unveiled the pool of players with their respective categories ahead of the draft for PSL 2018, which is to take place in Lahore on November 12.

Pakistan’s talented opener Ahmed Shehzad, along with Afghanistan’s emerging leg-spinning sensation Rashid Khan have been put in the highest category of the draft, Platinum.

Other players included in the respective category are Chris Lynn, Mitchell Johnson, Shane Watson, Eion Morgan, JP Duminy, Imran Tahir, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Evin Lewis, Alex Hales, John Hastings, Jimmy Neesham, Mitchell McGlaneghan, Collin Ingram, Angelo Mathews, Thisara Parera, Carlos Brathwaite, Dwayne Smith and Jason Holder.

On the other hand, they also released the list of players that are featuring the Diamond category. Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi, Bangladesh’s duo of Tamim Iqbal and Mustafizur Rahman, New Zealand’s flamboyant batsman Collin Munro are the notable names in the category.

Moreover, former Pakistan’s ODI captain Azhar Ali, along with the talented all-rounder Fahim Ashraf has been placed in the Gold category. Other than them, Fawad Alam, Sami, Hammad Azam, Salman Butt, Umar Gul and other worthy Pakistani players are featuring the respective category.

In the lowest tear of the category, which is the Silver one, there 298 players, which have cricketers from USA, Canada, UAE, Ireland, Hong Kong and even Nepal.

Whereas, 93 of Pakistan’s young talented cricketers are placed in the Emerging category of the draft. In the previous two seasons, this category has given Pakistan some valuable players, such as Shadab Khan, Rumman Raees, Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Asghar.

The five franchises have retained two players of each Platinum, Diamon and Gold categories. Whereas, they have kept three players from the Silver category. On the other hand, the new franchise, Multan Sultans have picked nine players ahead of the draft to be at par with the other franchises during the main draft.
